Intensive Concentrating Solar Thermal (CST) Training Course

CSIRO recently ran a 2-week intensive CST course for a multi-national company, covering topics from solar energy fundamentals to market trends, as well as details of linear and point focus systems for power generation and solar chemistry. While there was an emphasis on modelling tools for components and full-scale design, operation of solar fields was included.

The case studies concentrated on the ASTRI baseline trough system and the ASTRI tower reference system, but included direct steam generation. The course was organised by Dr Jin-Soo Kim, CSIRO Team Leader for Thermal Conversion & Storage and ASTRI Researcher in receiver design.

Other trainers included Manuel Blanco, Andrew Beath, Sarah Miller, Clothilde Corsi, James McGregor, Robbie, McNaughton, Alex Burton, Wil Gardiner, Mike Collins, Daniel Potter and Dibakar Rakshit.
